The Dual SKT BioNomadix module pair consists of a matched transmitter and receiver to record one or two channels of temperature data. The module pair is typically used to measure skin surface temperature or variations in inspired/expired breath—for monitoring respiration. The module pair is designed to emulate a "wired" connection from the computer to subject, with all the benefits of a fully-wireless recording system.

Transducers for skin surface (BN-TEMP-A-XDCR) and fast response temperature (BN-TEMP-B-XDCR) are offered for this system. Temperature signal data is transmitted at a rate of 2000 Hz, providing extremely high resolution temperature variation waveforms at the receiver module's outputThe pair is specifically designed to measure temperature in the range of 13 to 51 °C (use AcqKnowledge software to calibrate output to 55 to 124 °F).

The module pair establishes a fixed wideband response of DC to 10 Hz. Additional internal highpass and lowpass optional filters provide for high quality amplification of temperature signals sourcing from thermistor-based temperature probes (compatible with YSI® 400 series specifications). Raw data from the module set is bandlimited from DC to 10 Hz, to provide for extremely rapid response temperature measurement. Due to battery operation of the wireless transmitter and close proximity to the subject's body, common-mode rejection ratio is extremely high, considerably in excess of any typical wired biophysical transducer signal recording system. Accordingly, notch filters to remove mains interference (50 or 60 Hz) are available but not typically required.

Temperature data can be recorded from two independent sites, typically anywhere on the subject's body or just adjacent to the nostril or mouth to measure inspired/expired airflow. Attach the transmitter unit near or on the subject's torso via the stretchy Velcro strap included, or try the BioNomadix Shirt (stretch-mesh, pocketed shirt).

Use AcqKnowledge to evaluate the rate of absolute temperature change on one site of the subject's body or the subtle differences in skin surface temperature between two locations on the body, due to possible blood flow differences. The high signal to noise ratio and high time-based sampling resolution permits the module set to be used for precise temperature research studies. Temperature measurement can also be synchronized to a specific stimulus for stimulus/response investigations, such as those associated with the vasodilation intrinsic to facial blushing or overall body flushing. Using AcqKnowledge, fast or slow response temperature variations data can be isolated to accommodate high quality temperature signal identification.

Interference with other recording modules or systems is greatly minimized because the module transmitter is completely battery operated and operates totally independently of any other recording grounds or power sources. The recording transmitter is also extremely safe to use, because there is no physical connection to supply mains.

The BioNomadix series of wireless, wearable physiology monitoring devices for life science research are available for a wide range of signals, including ECG, EEG, EOG, EMG, EGG, Respiration, Pulse, Temperature, Electrodermal Activity, Impedance Cardiography and Accelerometry. BioNomadix noninvasively records high-quality, full-bandwidth data while comfortably allowing subjects to move freely in natural indoor environments. BioNomadix transmitters use digital transmission and short leads or transducers placed close to the signal source to provide excellent signal quality. BioNomadix are configured for specific signal types, so you don’t have to adjust settings on the hardware or software for high quality data.

Multiple BioNomadix units can be used to provide the optimum signal combination for a research study requiring biopotential or transducer signals. When used with a BIOPAC MP System, up to 16 channels of BioNomadix data can be recorded for multi-subject or multi-parameter protocols. The system also works with multiple MP160/MP150 systems or third-party data acquisition hardware via an isolated power supply module (IPS100C). The BioNomadix Logger can pair with up to 3 transmitter units providing up to 6 channels of physiological data as well as a color display for visual feedback, speaker for auditory feedback, vibration for haptic feedback, voice journal for participant comments, event markers, alarms, and a built-in accelerometer.  AcqKnowledge software adds the power of sophisticated automation and scoring routines for each signal type, plus customization options.

BioNomadix accessory items include transducers, electrode leads, and a custom, pocketed stretch-mesh shirt to comfortably hold multiple devices in place. The shirt has zippers placed for easy access to electrode sites and is available from extra small to extra large.

BioNomadix Transmitter and Receiver are shipped as a pair with matching serial numbers and include a strap and battery charger. To identify the matched Transmitter-Receiver Pair, press and hold "ID" button on Transmitter and match to Receiver with flashing "Status" LED.

Calibration

Calibration is not required—BioNomadix are factory-calibrated for specific signal types. For optional calibration to validate measurements, see the MP Hardware Guide.

Filter options

Switches can be set to enable the mains notch filter (50/60 Hz) and to change temperature signal bandwidths (as narrow as 0.5 Hz HP to 1 Hz LP).
