New Physitemp BFS-MP SeriesPhysitemp’s new line of temperature controlled freezing stages incorporates several innovative features at a lower cost than their TC series controllers. These controllers are designed around a new generation of switching power supplies which are smaller and lighter than the older BFS supplies. The supplies are overrated 100% to ensure cool operation and continuous service.

| BFS and BFS-TC series
freezing stages fit easily onto most microtomes. These
thermoelectric devices have no moving parts and need only AC
current and a trickle of water for operation. Freezing starts
immediately and can be maintained indefinitely. Stage
temperature is adjustable so that optimum cutting temperatures
can be set for different kinds of tissue.
Physitemp Freezing Stages are especially valuable for multiple sectioning of brains and other organs which are too large for cryostats. Small stages (BFS-3, BFS-3TC, BFS-5, BFS-5TC) fit all microtomes. The larger stages (BFS-30 and BFS-30TC) are designed for sledge microtomes such as AO 860. Stages can also be used to control the
temperature of materials other than tissue and have been used in
research on integrated circuits, photo diodes, liquid crystal,
wax formation on fuel oils and even freezing concrete. |
